When the Ohms first found the artifact on an abandoned planet in the Gallienne system, they were at a loss to explain its intended purpose or function.

Though inlaid with micro-circuitry, the relic wasn't immediately thought to have a significant technological purpose as it was found in what appeared to be a purely ceremonial setting. Some thought it was an icon of sorts, designed for a religious ritual; some believed it was a purely decorative object. Yet others thought it had been made to serve some recreational pursuit.

It wasn't till decades later, after returning to the Ohm home world, that the object's true nature was discovered. It was shortly thereafter that the Ohms activated the long-dormant artifact and were transformed into the pure energy beings they are today.
